|Founder, Executive Director, Hope International Services|
Dr. Kathleen Anderson Walk has Devoted 40 Years to the Field of International Medicine
Hope International Services exists to promote Christian missionary endeavors worldwide, with an emphasis on planting churches through healing crusades, and training Christians and their leaders using international radio and short-term ministry.
In May of 2008, H.I.S. purchased an orphanage in Blantyre, Malawi, where they now care for more than 100 children whose parents have perished, either from AIDS, starvation or war. H.I.S. provides these children with food, water, shelter, clothes, blankets, supervision, education, and most of all, hope. H.I.S. recently purchased land to build a second orphanage, because the need is so great; it is estimated that there are one and a half million orphans in Malawi. Missionaries are working in Russia toward the establishment of a health clinic within a church organization to give medical care to those who cannot afford to see a doctor. H.I.S.’ long-term goal is to provide health and human services to all underserved people in the world, and in the short-term, to expand their outreach programs to Pakistan and South America.
Hope International Services and its founder, Dr. Kathleen Anderson Walk produce radio programs of teaching and praise music, called Kindle the Flame. They began broadcasting on KCRO in Omaha, Nebraska 30 years ago, and now, Kindle the Flame can be heard on radio stations all over the United States, Africa, the Far East, India and Russia.
This year, Dr. Walk plans to continue her ventures with Hope International Services by traveling abroad. She plans to spend the first 2 weeks of March in Kenya and Uganda, and the first 2 weeks of August in Malawi and Mozambique. She will also be in Zimbabwe and Zambia in November, and finally, in Russia and Pakistan, as well.
